Artwork by Don Henderson.

Vector illustration of Janis Joplin.

She was born Janis Lyn Joplin in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 19th 1943. By the 1960's she was the Queen of Rock N Roll. Combining Soul, Blues and Rock N Roll, she became one of the most powerful voices of her generation. Nobody could belt out a tune like Janis. Her raspy soulful voice was unmistakable. Her rise was meteoric, her fall was catastropic. All the world would come to know this wild eyed girl from Texas. She was on the fast track, she had it all, but she lived her life on a razors edge. Sex, Drugs & Rock N Roll had taken it's hold on her. A steady string of smash hits made her a household name and then all that suddenly, she was gone. Janis Joplin died of a heroin overdose on October 4, 1970, she was 27 years old.
