Artwork by Don Henderson.

Vector illustration of Andy Warhol.

Dawson Street in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh is a most unlikely place for the King of Pop Art to have been born, but here it was on a peaceful street in the heart of Oakland, a stones throw from Forbes Field, the University of Pittsburgh, the Carnegie Museum and Carnegie Mellon University, the King of Pop Art is born!

Andy may have started out with humble roots, but in New York City, Andy became a Super Star! This shy kid from Pittsburgh was like nothing they had ever seen before. Andy changed the art world with his vision and his hunger to succeed.

Never forgetting his working class roots and at a time when the art world was salivating over splattered paint abstract art, Andy gave us Campbell's Soup and silk-screened portraits of the stars he adored. These were images that people could understand and relate to. In his own quirky way, Andy helped bring realism and graphic design to the forefront of modern art. Thanks Andy!
Rest in Peace, Andy Warhol(a) 1928 - 1987
