The M2 Tractor, popularly known as a "Cletrac," was used at Air Force bases during WWII and the Korean War (there may have even been a few used in the Vietnam War) for moving aircraft and heavy trailers. The Cletrac was best for slogging around in mud, moving vehicles and aircraft that had become bogged down. The M2 has a gross weight of 13,800 pounds and a maximum drawbar pull of 7,000 pounds! It was also equipted with an electric generator and an air compressor.
Many an aircraft was dragged back to solid ground by the slow but powerful Cletracs. Cletrac Tractors were built by Cleveland Tractor Company, Cleveland, Ohio.
